| From the Where2sing.com forum: Absolutely not James, I never judge a song by the type of people that sing them. I judge the song on wether or not it's been flogged to death week after week for years on end. Singers of all standards are welcomed and encouraged at my gigs and I'm a little baffled at the inference.
At the last gig I ran there was one singer in particular whom I believe is one of the worst I've ever heard, that would get up every week and belt out 3 or 4 songs a night. He came up to me one night with tears in his eyes and thanked me for letting him sing as most of the other shows around the CBD would either cut his song in the middle, humiliate him while he was singing, or not allow him on stage in the first place.
As I keep saying it's just a business decision to not include these songs. There's no ulterior motive and no intended disrespect to anyone, just a desire to present something different from the norm. This has served me well for years and I see no reason to change a winning formula.
