I'm guessing that you know of a company that's using burnt discs, and you may well know of a company that's using a laptop to play tracks downloaded free from Internet sites. I think it's important to diffrentiate the hosts (companies) that acquire illegal copies, no matter that they come on disc or just as computer files, from those who are utilising the latest in technology (laptops and CAVS units) to deliver legal content - even though the use of laptops or CAVS units may be still under question. Every time I get a handle on the legalities of this subject, something new crops up that 'queries' my understanding.
I now regularly feed information to MIPI, the guard dog for APRA, about those who are suspected of using illegal discs or files, and I urge others to do the same. I would be extremely disappointed to find that hosts I like playing illegally acquired tracks, but that would not stop my passing on such information to MIPI.
By the same token, I'm keen to support hosts' usage of laptops as I think this is a great step forward.
