From the Where2sing.com forum:

At the moment there are only a few manufacturers that don't sell their karaoke tracks in MP3+g or online video format here are a few that do...
Soundchoice sell their tracks on google video - Karaoke Monthly, Panorama, Zoom, Forever Hits all available through Tricerasoft - Capital sell theirs on CAVS units, Sundown give permission to have their Aussie/NZ discs recoded and Karaoke Island sell their whole 6000 strong list online....just to name a few.
Now I fully agree that someone using downloaded non paid for songs should be thrown in gaol like every other theif but to call someone a crook who pays for every song they have on every individual PC is a bit rich.
I have always been completely transparent when it comes to how I do business and that includes with Mipi and APRA, who's official stance is very different to it's face to face conversation.
I'm very comfortable morally with how I run my shows, no-one loses out and everyone gets paid which is the only way good business is run.
To those who take the view that its illegal and shouldn't be done til it is, I respect your view but I do think its very narrow minded. The laws that we are now under were written when there was not an even a hint that digital music was on the horizon and when computers were still scary science fiction. Even the most conservative politician would agree that these laws need to and will be changed.
Yes I have been 'dobbed in' a few times by hosts who wanted to take a show from me (no-one ever has) but I have been approached by many more hosts who want to move in the direction I started in more than 5 years ago.
These people are karaoke hosts with open minds and are forward thinkers and I have never had any problem showing these hosts how to run a show the right way.
How will you guys view these hosts in 5 years when everyone is trying to get their songs onto their computers? As people to learn from thats how. I'm very proud to have been one of the first to bring this technology to Australia and I would like to see anyone call me a crook to my face.
Cheers,
Rob.
