Ah... Good ol' Energizer!! He was a fellow regular at my first karaoke of choice all those years ago which recently started up again, same venue, same company (though ownership has changed hands). Back then, he was already known as 'The Energizer' but his movement was somewhat limited. Basically, the top half of his body would bob back and forth and side to side but his feet stayed planted firmly on the stage. I decided to try to teach him a few moves and though I was unsuccessful, he basically was able to come up with his own versions of them. Result?: what you see him do today and I think that's great. =D We used to pair up to sing Pseudo Echo's 'Funkytown' (the United laser disc version, I think it was). I figured it was the only way I was going to get to sing that song cos I don't like taking someone else's regular pick and back then, that was one of his weekly numbers - in fact, that was how I learned it! Our duets were lots of fun though. I like singing bass, so it's always good to team up with other males on stage - or women if they choose, say, 'Let Me Be There' - and that was my first time of getting to, cos I'd take the line of 'Won't you take me to,' down the octave and let Colin / Energizer shout out 'Funkytown!!' which worked to great effect. I like duets too but any chance to show off the bass voice and I'm there!!! Not enough guys know The Marcels' version of 'Blue Moon' though, I've found. The bass line in that is my favourite to sing at karaoke cos it's more interesting than that in 'In The Still Of The Night' by The Five Satins (which I still like cos it requires even deeper notes) or Boyz II Men's 'End Of The Road' but 'Blue Moon' is always a crowd pleaser. When Andrew used to run the Carry On Karaoke gig, I loved that at the end of 'Blue Moon,' he'd cut the music just so that my own vocals would end the song rather than the pre-recorded backing singer's and that always got the crowd cheering. Lots of fun, such a buzz!! Makes me wanna sing it NOW, actually! lol

SOOOOOO wanting to check out St Marys tonight but I'm gonna head to Redfern again where this time, I'll pull out an old faithful for the comp. I'm thinking Elvis Presley's 'Trouble.' If that doesn't get me through, nothing will. Gonna have to try one of my favourite Elvis songs tonight for the first time too: 'Marguerita.' I hope the karaoke version's at least close to the original - I'm a sucker for Spanish influenced Mexican styled songs with their trumpets, castanets, acoustic guitars and beautiful harmonies. Might give 'Mary In The Morning' a try too. LOVE that song. Well, now I definitely need to get there early in order to get at least 3 songs in. If I get a fourth, I've been dying for months to try Roy Orbison's 'Communication Breakdown' but then, I noticed on FJ's list last weekend that Elvis' more romantic (and thankfully deeper) version of the Ray Charles classic, 'You Don't Know Me' is also on karaoke and likely on StarSound's list too, so it'll be a toss up between the 2 numbers, I think.
I think I need a blog section at w2s to stop me using up so much forum space! lol (j/k) Hmm... a 'myspace' version of w2s.... THAT'D be interesting, wouldn't it? However, I don't think it's necessary or even worthwhile for this website.
