From the Where2sing.com forum:

Tom ... I wonder did your eardrums suffer during any songs last night . I cruised (swam!?) on down to Parra Workers last night & as I was signing in (sorry to hear of your sign-in episode last week JB .I have a N.T. license , so these proximety issues never affect me ,nor do traffic demerit points , hehehe) the most apalling sound was bellowing out around the auditorium , from 2 young guys who , quite clealy , were enjoying themselves . Now I know plenty has been wrtten about how Karaoke SHOULD be all about fun , & I agree , but not at the expense of everyone else in the place. I was going to say something to Rob , but early in the evening ,I thought I might be risking Rob's displeasure at raising the subject yet again .Rob , if your reading this , PLEASE do somehting , for the sake of your gig. These guys , who weren't being offensive , but were just performing with a ''watch me everybody'' attitude might be more widely accepted , even ''fit in'' , in a pub full of young people , or football club , but in a family club enviroment where Karaoke performances (generally speaking) are taken a little more seriously, people eating meals & trying to converse shouldn't be grimacing at overly loud poor singing . I'm not saying ban these guys (who we subsequently dubbed ''Dumb & Dumber'') , let them have their fun , just turn their mikes down a bit . I dont believe either , that asking them to tone it down a bit would have made any difference as I think they were completely clueless to the sound they were putting out & more than likely would have been pissed off that someone would ask them to back off. Again , it's up to the KJ to exercise a little executive discretion with the mike volume fader to keep everybody in the place happy , isn't it ....?
