Johnny B - Pitch is something that I think is a natural ability and few people can really learn it. You can plainly hear this when people are singing with great gusto but in a completely different key to the music...ouch. I, too, many years ago trained as a coloratura soprano but I felt like such a phony. It just wasn't me. Anyone who has heard me sing are now reading this and going WTF?? A soprano...get out of here. LOL. But I do think that you have to feel the classical just as much as you have to feel Elvis or Madonna or even Abba. I used to leave singing lessons and pop on a cassette of Taylor Dane, Foreigner or Heart (yeah I know...told you it was a loooong time ago) start singing along with them and thought 'I am going to undo everything I've just learnt!' But you know, I felt more at home vocally singing with these guys than doing 'Brahm's Sonntag' I had just spent hours 'perfecting'.
