| From the Where2sing.com forum: Karaoke has the same issues as the educational sector - is the issue working with the best to create 'excellence' or working remedially to improve the overall standard and make sure 'no child is left behind'? What surprises me most about this hobby is the group of people who make no effort to improve their performance. I'm talking here not about casual blow-ins but about people who come in week after week, year in year out, who've clearly made this their main pastime. We have one group talking about singing lessons, many of whom are presumably already good singers, while there is another group that seems oblivious to basics like being on key, in synch, using the mic properly, or even knowing the lyrics to songs they do repeatedly. The 'it's just about having fun' theory and mantra wears thin when trying to account for this latter group.
