Hi everyone!

Johnny B: Apologies for my tardiness in replying to your question. I only frequent St Pats on a regular basis, so hope to meet you there in the near future. I too love Ivan Rebroff. I don't know if any of these tunes are available on karaoke but some may be available as backing tracks or midis. My personal favourite, Otschi Tschorny Je (Dark Eyes), is definitely available on a uk site, although it is one of the more expensive sites, at 12pds for the one track.

Julz: Did know of a gent who couldn't sing a note in key yet his love of music was vast. He went on to marry a classical singing teacher who painstakingly taught him to sing one note at a time. After much perseverance on his part and, of course, his wife's infinite patience, he went on to join the Australian Opera Company, so with the right attitude and commitment anything is possible.

All: I am an opera lover. I have many operatic recordings by numerous artists. As far as Pavarotti owning Nessun Dorma, I prefer
Franco Corelli (check YouTube) but my personal favourite is by Jussi Bjorling. It is his recording that touches my soul. I always remember the scene at the opera in Pretty Woman where Richard Gere explains to Julia Roberts that opera is something that can be learnt to be appreciated but it is only when it touches your soul that you truly love it. I think that this reasoning applies to all genres of music and art and is the only way that individuals can judge a performance, that is, on a personal level. We can all theorise and critique on vocal techniques etc. but it is that intangible feeling we get that induces us to love something.
