| From the Where2sing.com forum: Barri Tone - talk about not getting the point. A hoon is a violent person, not a bad singer. I don't care about other people's singing. I do care about their violence when it intrudes on me and, more commonly, on my wife. So if anyone decides to put a shoe near one of us they can expect to spend a night in the cells. We will not tolerate violence and promotion of it on this site. The law is on our side and we wouldn't hesitate to use it. I only care about bad singing as a general observation that if we want to sustain karaoke as viable we need to take feedback from the people who determine whether it is seen as a viable proposition for their venue. If they see it as a down-market activity that attracts non-paying, rowdy, disruptive elements and is a laughable irritant to other patrons, it will not be valued. We've had as many as 7 venues in Chatswood vicinity - we're now down to 1. The remaining one is quiet, non-violent, and fair. Is there a lesson in that? Yet, even with their #1 rating it's a fight to keep it alive. Management looks for any excuse to switch it off for the night. So this is no fantasy of mine. Some hosts may have hit a lucky break with a gig they can count on, but overall it looks like a constant battle for hearts and minds.
