Music Addict and LeatherBaron...
Back in the days before turning vegan, I found I sang even better than usual after a nice frothy cappuccino despite the common advice to avoid dairy products before singing. Fried food only becomes an issue if one has crumbs or oil stuck in one's throat which I think is another reason dairy is said to affect the voice as it too can stick to the lining of the throat. If you can clear the debris with other food and fluid, I say have what you want.
As far as food is concerned, the only thing that has ever affected my voice is being either hungry or having one's tummy filled to the bursting point.
I agree with the stance on alcohol. I'm not sure but I guess it affects the voice by dulling the senses and anaesthetizing the muscles - especially the vocal ones. I'm okay up to 3 standard drinks in relatively quick succession but thereafter, the voice gets affected noticeably for the worse, even though I am still clear headed.
