Not sure if you are being hostile but it comes across that way. Assuming you are, I don't understand why you wish to be as I agree with all you are saying in that last post except for thinking that I belong to the nasty herd. I socialize with all types (who at least can hold a decent conversation anyway) and most find me friendly and likeable in person. Some of those people, I feel special affection for as they are some of the loveliest people anyone could be lucky enough to meet, so I must have some saving graces for all my outspokenness. I don't see why it is considered uncool to voice one's opinion as I do. I am not afraid to make waves but then, I can swim, so why should I be?

There are several singer song / writers on w2s, at least one of whom was recommended in a newsletter last year sometime with a link to his myspace page. The KWC winner last year is on You Tube - so am I (under a name I don't care to share here at this time) and have been favourited by several people and continue to receive comments from folk, as well as having my own website up and running with my own music. While not officially a pro just yet (no gigs or anything since I can't afford the sound equipment) I do have my sights set on getting to as high a level as possible and like I said, am sure I am not alone in this aspiration here.
Forgive me but when you say 'Some of us in this Forum will reach such heights?? Come on...!!??!!' you sound like the guys who used to say, 'Run a mile in under 4 minutes? Impossible!' or 'We'll never build machines that can fly!' or 'The Earth... ROUND??? NONSENSE!! It's FLAT!' or Professor Douglas Hartree of Cambridge who was quoted to have said in the 80s how England would only ever need the then new 3 digital computers being built to do all the calculations in the country and how no one else would EVER need their own machines or EVER be able to afford them...
You want singing success stories? Look at Sandi Thom (I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker) who merely used to do a 'world tour' video blog on You Tube from her basement and shot to fame for being discovered there or Amy Belle who was a young busker on the streets of Glasgow till Rod Stewart was introduced to her and got her up in front of a live audience with him. Lucky breaks do happen and there are forumers here actively seeking their own so all I'm saying is, don't be so quick to try and limit us based on your assumptions that ONLY those who EVER want to 'sing for fun' attend karaoke and read / post here.
I had hoped to have gone pro earlier this year but several months back suffered an unexpected financial setback, so am busy trying to find alternative means of getting out there as a serious recording artist that does not entail the usual route of pub gigs and the like as that really doesn't appeal and at my age would likely prove a step in the wrong direction. As said in recent previous posts, I had my voice destroyed and have only recently got it back on track, at a standard I feel comfortable with, otherwise I'd have gone pro at 18 years old.
Not meant to be a sob story. Just the back story explaining why I have not done so just yet and am still 'just' a karaoke singer. I LOVE karaoke and have made many friends through it and expanded my tastes in music considerably because of it.
