I'm a liitle surprised though that you feel unqualified to judge a Karaoke comp. but are able to judge someone's character & their social group so completely from just a few posts in a chat forum. I'm sure those within your ''herd'' wouldn't want to be labeled with ''tunnel vision'' , so you'd be doing yourself & them a favour by making sure you're not wearing blinkers . Keep an open mind & a broad perspective & you'll avoid getting judged with labels like ''narrow-minded'' ...lol...
On the subject of ''talent'' , do you really think there are only a limited few qualified to judge ? While those with experience may be better able to define it , talent is something that MOST people will recognise similarly , although like beauty , is in the eye / ear of the beholder , & those variables are what make the arts exciting , & give us ''mere mortals'' hope & satisfaction . Time & again so called ''experts'' have canned a particular performer / artist , only to find the general public loves them . Did anyone see ''A Current Affair'' last night ? They were displaying a range of paintings & discussing these works merit & credability , & who was the artist ?? .... a long-eared pug-nosed mut with a paint brush in it's chops !! Now there's ''talent'' for you ... lol ..
