Billy T...
'Singers aspiring to be better than the rest (read your statements JB)' Again - we are NOT ARGUING!! YES, I said that, yes I stand by that. My understanding of 'aspiring' means doing what one can to achieve a goal. What's yours? Cos again, it sounds like you take issue with something neutral. My aiming to be the best possible doesn't belittle anyone else's efforts so I really am confused as to why you are taking issue with my aspirations.
I'm gonna assume you're talking to Barri regarding the anonymity issue since again, my name IS 'Johnny B.'
I'm nice to anyone who doesn't tick me off. To pretend otherwise would be disingenuous; lacking in integrity; in my book. I'm not into 2-faced behaviour, hence the real name and being unafraid to express myself even if it reflects poorly on me. It usually takes a fair bit to tick me off but in a forum where we can only communicate with our typed words, well, reactions occur more easily. Reason my posts get so long is cos I understand the need for exactitude when communicating with words alone lest there be misunderstanding. However, I am finding that others' interpretations are too difficult to predict given the number of misunderstandings I read here. You're merely the latest. I find no fault grammatically or literally (usually) in my posts so I can only assume people's attention spans wane when reading so much thus leaving the readers susceptible to misinterpretation.
I have considered that perhaps I have misinterpreted your posts myself but no matter how often I read them, the tone comes out as anything but friendly. Seems a case of pots and kettles arguing who's blacker here when you advise to play nice lest one puts someone off. Valuable advice yes but something of which I am already aware. Thank you. I just choose to no longer suffer fools and as I said, when someone ticks me off, I'll let them know in no uncertain terms as it maintain one's integrity as opposed to either bottling it in or pretending all is fine. Of course, other times, I'll just ignore them if it's not worth the time necessary to invest.
As for the risks involved, I guess for you it is a case of possibly losing something for which you have worked hard whereas for an aspiring singer such as myself, it is more the risk of never achieving one's dreams. I take that on board even though in my heart, I feel dreams / ambitions are among the most valuable possessions anyone has and therefore at least equal in risk value as finances. Dreams alone don't put food on the table though so I do understand your stance there.
