Thanks for that option and yes, I did consider it in the past but like I said, at my age now, it isn't really the best way to go unless I got a lucky break pretty well straight away. I didn't opt for hiring gear in the past as I prefer to actually own things outright and so I don't even use lines of credit. I like paying cash in full. That way, if I am completely broke, at least I am not in any debt. Hiring is basically borrowing, so then, there is pressure of possible damage coming to gear and I should hate to be responsible for damage to someone else's property. If it's my own, some of the tension associated is relieved because the gear becomes an extension of myself and I do trust that I take care of myself, so I take it as written that I can protect my gear too. Protecting someone else's gear is like protecting someone else and thus distracting. Any personal distractions like that affect my performance, so I avoid them as much as possible in order to give an audience my best. I know it sounds weird but that's just how I am.
I'm exploring different options at the moment for getting out there. Currently, I am awaiting the go ahead on some voice over work which also utilizes one of my original pieces composed specifically for the background music. Once that is in the bag, I have something to use for getting more professional and more regular work in that industry to pay the bills and fund what I need to do to implement my musical plans. The almighty dollar can be such a pain. Things were on track till the change in finances just several weeks ago but while it is an unwelcome setback, I am determined to hang in there and keep striving for what I want. The situation I am in is far too complicated to get into but suffice to say, it is quite unique so I have to be very inventive in order to get out of it and still be able to devote my time to my music. Thanks for taking the time to try and help though. I appreciate it. :)
