| From the Where2sing.com forum: Barri, I will only be listening at this conference. Mercifully, I don't get referred many horror cases and spend my #1 day job time doing more fun research things. I was only making the point that when Marg & I leave early it's usually because we have good reason not to stay up late. I've always assumed that many people have day jobs that don't fit well with late night karaoke (I'd be scared to see my local crane driver belting it out at Chats then up in the tower at 7:00AM!). That's why I'm always overjoyed to see an afternoon or early evening gig start up.
Barri, I can't see any real job loss from the smoking bans. It was only an artefact of people shifting from one venue to another. If there was a total ban they'd have to go somewhere. As to live and let live I always found other people's smoke extremely intrusive on my living - the stench on my clothes. I got used to it as a kid in the 50s but there's no reason for it in this century. Butts don't damage my tiles but I do resent having to go out and pick up other people's butts from my balcony. So this live & let live was always a myth -ie- let me live & stuff you, Jack was more like it.
