| From the Where2sing.com forum: K is for F: Sitting away from sound is not an option at my local as the sound carries up to all sections of the auditorium. There are only a few ear-piercers but they often take the host by surprise so the only real solution is finger or cotton in the ears. And they're not the bad singers to which I refer.
At another venue recently we had a wild experience with out of control drunks. These girls decided to do public lap-dancing and stripping, then falling off chairs. That was only the start. When they physically monstered Marg because of perceived out of turn it was time to talk to the bar staff who assured us that he'd stopped serving them. We had invited some business associates along. They were so horrified that at one stage a respectable office manager pelted them with ice from an overpriced cocktail! And that was more because of their assaultive preposterously bad 'singing' as the final straw. Every other patron in the room was wanting to hear more from our group and p***ed off with these louts but, given the 'anything goes' attitude of karaoke, who cared about what the majority wanted? It was, as usual, descent to the lowest denominator of illegal assaultive drunks.
