From the Where2sing.com forum:

Johnny B - Just to continue microphones are the best tool in a singers toolbox, and I believe like myself all singers pursue the need to perfect performance, unfortunately in the Karaoke circuit we will be disappointed from time to time and venue to venue with sound quality and equipment quality having said this I believe most serious business operators try their best in a very competitive arena.
I believe you and others on this forum have a genuine passion for singing and practice at home is conducive to success on stage therefore as my opening line dictates the correct microphone used in the home studio will be your best tool to give you all the answers,I do not wish to open a debate on 'the best' mic, however I am in the process of opening another part of my business that being a home recording studio and after a great deal of advise, research and cost have been introduced to some fantastic equipment one item of which I am blown away with.
The RODE NT 3 studio condenser microphone has acheived some fantastic results for me, Johnny this little beauty does not lie its frequency response and performance is far far superior to any dynamic mic I have used in house and in live/stage use in fact used it for an event where I was to supply background singing during a service and the audience commented later they thought it was a CD playing OK price is important but most pro singers have to supply their own microphone so at around $170 it is a brilliant investment and I can promise you Johnny B will iron out that 'muddiness' for you.
