That's horrible news about Wayne's toes. You're gonna have to give him stuff to get his hands / mind occupied. Books, puzzles, maybe a model to put together. I don't know. Rubik's Cubes have too much of a 'too hard' reputation or I'd suggest one of those. Just something to distract him from his prone self. He doesn't strike me as a big DVD watcher and reading is quite the temporary fix - or you could get him the Harry Potter series ;)
Given his current condition, I think karaoke or going out of any kind should be postponed for at least the next 12 days. Just get the computer near him and get him singing stuff online and if you've got discs, then use those too. The healing power of home karaoke! Hehehe.
