From the Where2sing.com forum:

100% agree with everything Kev has said. With regards to pseudo names, sometimes I'll say that only those people who's name are on the slip can get up (prevents freeloaders) and ask to see some ID to establish that this person doesn't actually have 'Punky' on his driver's liscence etc.

Duets can be the toughest because more than likely, one person will tag along on duets with other people because they don't feel comfy getting up by themselves. I feel that these other the people you need to pay a little extra attention to because they are karaoke addicts in the making. Last night, I had a table that had four singers who mostly had individual songs, but all had various duets with the 4th person. It's just a matter of touching base with them throughout the night and ensuring that they know that the duet counts as a song for everyone on the slip. Sometimes that won't even occur to them and they may even change their selection.

Transparency is the key in my opinion, make frequent announcements on the mic to let everyone know what's going on and know that the sober/tipsy 'frequent' singer will give you more grief about things than the drunk 'occassional' singer who missed out on Summer of 69 but will just tell you they love you in 30 min time...
