So......??? How did you go??? ceepat and I were wondering throughout the evening at Chatty!

ceepat...
Thank you again for your kindness with the lifts both to Chatty and home again plus buying drinks, naughty girl (I think I still owe you one). Much appreciated.
Thank you too for the lovely compliments on my voice. I feel the same about yours actually.
Just wish the other regulars usually in attendance were tonight. It was certainly busy but my evenings at Chatty are usually more lively than it was tonight as there are usually more people at the table or at least to converse with. On the bright side, we got our songs and a couple of dances in. :) Pity we didn't get to Summer Wine but never mind.

I relayed to my father the story of the '9 grand that almost was' and he topped it. Apparently, when he lived in New Zealand as a youth, he hopped out of a queue selling tickets for the biggest prize money in the country at that time (1971) and helped a lady whose paper shopping bag had torn open and strewn her groceries all over the place. After helping her recover those, he hopped back in queue where the person who had been behind him had taken his place. Guess who won the $200K draw? Yep. THAT guy. Must irk Dad cos he usually doesn't dwell on stuff and that was from when he was just over half MY current age.
I guess the only other time I missed out in as big a way as Wednesday was when I lost my place in the queue to win some restored 50s or 60s car (hot pink to boot) at the Wintersun Karaoke National Grand Final in 2004. I can't recall exactly how that happened. Losing my place in that queue for drawing out a key to open (and win) the car proved my demise that time. Dad's words of 'comfort' were that I have obviously inherited the genes for always just missing out on the big wins! LOL
Still, nice of the birdman Robert to recall (and repay) his $30 debt to me which I had completely forgotten about somehow and just as nice to yet again win $20 despite Stevie E's attempt to say I had left. (Thanks ceepat for letting them know I hadn't!)

LOVED the dual foldback system you had set up tonight. Made for great sound - especially when on stage.
Once again, loved your singing and so glad ceepat requested it of you to do so. Loved just HOW she got you to also the sneaky devil. Hehehe.

el barto...
Nice to see you as always. I still prefer the No Mercy version of that Exile song you did. I'd like to hear you try that version and get the EC's out on the dance floor. There were a couple in attendance tonight who it was nice to see up and dancing during my rendition of Ricky's 'She Bangs.'

Props to their friend with the super deep voice! WOW! Definitely lower than I am which is a first for me to encounter at karaoke. Did Barry White's 'Can't Get Enough Of Your Love' (down the octave) VERY well - even if it was just mainly done in speaking tones but WHAT TONES THEY WERE! Not the kind of voice you'd expect to come out of such a 'pretty boy.' Certainly blew me away to hear that voice. I mean, I CAN sing those same notes but I would have to work for them whereas he just did them as effortlessly as batting an eyelid. WOW!

There were also a bunch of young guys in attendance who I have to say were the best behaved group of young men I've ever seen. They got right into the karaoke and felt completely comfortable all getting up to dance and cheer, having the best time and weren't stumbling drunk or in any way discourteous. Good to see. I'm seeing more and more good in young folk today. Don't know what they're feeding them or putting in their water but I hope they continue to do so! Such a nice change from the rowdy louts you get used to seeing and take as part and parcel of a night out.
So lack of friends aside, Chatty still is a good venue with a great karaoke. I think everyone should check it out sometime.
