| From the Where2sing.com forum: Wow... I made a comment a little while ago that I didn't know where all these dodgy rotation gigs were because I hadn't seen them... Seems as though they're in Newcastle & Fortitude Valley.
Seriously guys, with all the complaining that goes on in Boiling Point etc, I don't see any valid justification for not rotating first come first served. It's not a talent night. I actually had a guy have a go at me Sat night at my gig because I didn't get him up. He approached me in the last 20 min of the night and afterwards said words to the effect of 'I thought you might have wanted someone who could sing, rather than the bad singers that you put up'. I'm sorry, but this kind of attitude is elitist and while I'm sure it sounds good in theory, it will piss people off.
For those hosts who are thinking about doing something a little outside the 'strict rotation' box (such as bumping someone up because they have to go hom early), consider this: are you going to piss off more people by doing it or by not doing it? Sometimes it's one of those things that would barely be noticed, but deliberately pushing back bad singers is the kind of behaviour that gets you labeled as running a SG.
