| From the Where2sing.com forum: I just dont understand where you people get the idea that karaoke is for good singers only. I get that kicking off the night with a decent rendition of a crowd pleasing song is a good way to keep interest levels up but isnt that what the host is for? I find that people stay at venues more often for the quirky, tragic and just plain terrible performers rather than the hugely talented ones becuase it offers something different to the consumer. If you want to hear great singers doing covers of well known songs there are countles free gigs at various venues around the country. I know that the karaoke gigs that I frequent are popular for the fact that there is no pretentious attitude, everyone is welcome to have a go regardless of ability or song choice and the hosts make every effort to fit every person in in a fair and decent rotation. Get a grip people, its a hobby and a form of entertainment not a militant regime.
