Erm... just for the record, in the NSW Chat Forum, I volunteered my vote and catman did hers too so that's at least 2 that Mic Rophone didn't actually prompt from his gig's fans. I think this may have started the ball rolling in terms of the ratings debate as I was just wondering who had given the gig such poor ratings before it was pointed out to me that they seemed to reflect the previous gig's ratings.
The issue of host honesty is valid but surely it is possible to limit a visitor to just one vote per month? That way, any fudging will be kept minimal and if anyone revisits a gig and changes their mind about how to vote for it, they can do so. Those keen to vote will note that they are still within their monthly time zone and hopefully revisit to vote again at a later date. Just a thought. Simpler still might be to bar a KJ's vote for their own gig. If they have control over the gig as you encourage them to, then that system would keep them honest. For any gigs where the KJ does not have control in the gigs listing, then, a note could be added implying that operators would have the opportunity to be dishonest, which should encourage KJs to then take control of their listings to keep them up to date and thus ensure they will not be fudging the figures either.
However, I still think averaging is misleading.
