| From the Where2sing.com forum: Greg W ..... Where was the ''Open Room'' In Bangkok that you sang to each other for an hour ... I was there in '95 on a ''Get me out of Here'' tour , after breaking up with my then girlfriend & I found it similar back then. The first place I found that had Karaoke was (I think ) The Indra , or something similar , where they had a huge room with an enormous screen , that was almost empty , save for me & one other guy who kept singing love songs (seemingly) to me & admitted after a while he was gay & hoped that I would be impressed by his musical/vocal passion . I made a diplomatic exit & retreated to my hotel room. I found out that the Novotel had Karaoke so the next night I decided to walk there & after witnessing a pedestrian get hit by a car that did not stop , & seeing him fly about 10-12 feet in the air & land unmoving on the road (this was right out the front of the World Trade Centre). I was contemplating being a Hero & running the Gaunlet of 3 lanes of feral traffic to rescue this poor bloke when a car pulled up on the other side of the road , 4 guys ran across , picked him up & carried him back to their car & sped off .... & I've always wondered whether they took him to a hospital for repair ...or spares .... it was a little disconcerting , but I was determined to have a sing & I eventualy found the Novotel & their Karaoke room was modern & impressive. It had a ''main room'' & a glass booth for singing . I did a rendition of ''New Kid in Town'' & was complimented on my singing by a well dressed (local) man who kept telling me earnestly , I looked like Mel Gibson .... when I asked him if he was gay , he just gave me a blank stare , but his companion burst out laughing & said ... ''how can you tell ?'' ... I told them 3 other blokes over the years had said I looked like Mel Gibson , & they all wanted to take me home .... I did enjoy my trip to Bangkok , but decided if I ever went back there for some singing , I would take some female company with me ! .... Any takers Ladies ?? ....
