| From the Where2sing.com forum: Tricia, I think the best way of organizing this is setting a ceiling amount of earnings somewhere in the vicinity of @ $1000 as it would rule out the sharks that are circling the competitions that are around. This amount also works in the favor of the punters that have won the odd comp but haven't gone any higher.As for lead singers in bands ,its in the best interest not to include them as it breeds disharmony( as can be witnessed in the case of Rovics v Kharma Kay situation) Singers in bands tend to be in a place where they have more practice than your average punter,and that in itself can be classed as an unfair advantage. An Amateur is classed as someone who does something for interest not money or as an unskilled practitioner. Have unbiased non locals for judges as familiarity breeds contempt,and make sure of not having anything come back to bite you in the posterior and you should be alright.
