From the Where2sing.com forum:

Thanks guys for you input. We have run severall comps in the past and had no problems apart from not allowing people that sing in bands to enter. As a few of them have stated; they are in a band but do not earn money from it apart from the occassional private function, as they are not on the gig circuit. At the moment our comp conditions read :QUALIFICATION
The competition is open to Amateurs that have not won more than $3000 in prize money in the last 12 months. Should i also add: Singers of bands are welcome to enter as long as thier income has not earned them more than $3000 in the last 12 months? As most of you know a number of karaoke singers also practice for numerous hours at home befor going out to karoke, esspecially those who enter every Karaoke comp they possibly can.
Comps are a great draw card for extra revenue for venues, which is why they run them, but on the other hand we don't want them to alienate thier regular singers. My thoughts are that if a band singer is at our karaoke shows on most Friday and Saturday nights then they are not earning money from thier band.
