I didn't take it as an attack, Ray. I took it as a potential undermining of my reputation based on false assumptions As you say, I HAVE indeed put myself out there on this site and so one person's negative comments can muddy an otherwise fair summation of another's character simply through that wonder of wonders: hearsay / gossip.
I had to respond to counter any changes in opinion readers of the forum underwent. I do my best to do the right thing by others and do not take kindly to having my character besmirched.
I know you were commenting on your opinion of my talent and marketability. Fair enough.
However, giving advice to go out and get a job? That puts into people's heads that I don't have one already. I do.
Saying I am not a good enough singer / performer? That then influences their opinions when reading my posts regarding judging of talent levels in others.
These are not cases of taking to heart and getting upset, Ray. It's just seeing the different connections and understanding their impact on the psychology of others.
I will not have my value as a performer / an entertainer lowered through the opinion of someone who has never even heard or seen me live, let alone at my best. These things affect my life and my life is important to me. I'm the one living it after all.
