| From the Where2sing.com forum: Bojo - You're spot on, those openers have to have those instrumental sections to allow communication and fun with the audience and with the need not to be predictable adds more challenge however I find once 'loved' songs such as Love Is In The Air and Daydream Believer become a regular needed spanner in the Karaoke Hosts Toolbox at the risk of becoming 'boring' to me as the singer, they seem to work every time!!
I implemented a 'challenge' @ one of our venues that has a reputation for 'predictability', with prizes in place, all the individual had to do was 'NOT' sing the same song over a period of 4 weeks and no one was allowed to repeat another singers previous song it was a blissfull karaoke experience with the songbook being used to its fullest for the first time, and all song slips went into a draw for prizes at the end of period!
