I have been sitting back and watching the comments here regarding a new Host doing a Venue that has previously had Karaoke and whether the gig guide should reflect the change.
I can understand your concerns that surround just wiping out the singers comments and voting but I can equally understand a new Host wanting to wipe the votes out especially if they were negative.
A Karaoke Venue should be about a package that includes not only the Host having great sound and list but also about the Venue it’s self, i.e. friendly bar staff, reasonable drinks, security, food etc.
I doubt that this would change just because they get in a different or new Host into a Venue.
Having said that I can see that the voting would be a concern for a new Host because he or she would have the added weight of trying to convince people it was better and to go there again just to give it a chance.
The solution is quite simple. In the Heading in big letters (for all to see) should be written THIS VENUE HAS A NEW HOST FROM...(date to be put in).......ALL COMMENTS REGARDING THE HOST PRIOR TO THIS DATE REFLECT THE PREVIOUS HOST/S.
It would be up to the individual to then see if they wanted to visit or not.
I also think that you should also draw a line in the sand for the votes to indicate that they were for the old Host/s.
The way it works at the moment could be quite unclear to people.
Take my show for example if I change one thing in the Pre-amble then it reverts back to say previous info, indicating that it could have been some other Host doing the Show which is incorrect.
There is no easy answer in relation to the Voting but someone starting a fresh should be given that line in the sand.
After all the gig listings, peoples comments and votes are about trying to reflect the current status of a Venue to provide W2S users, correct choice through accurate and up to date information, unlike other Web sites that try to poach W2S information that doesn’t get updated.
