| From the Where2sing.com forum: Guys - All seems to be quiet on the W2S front,and no response from Tom I must admit my decision to enter this industry of ours was fueled by the love of the characters and fellowship I have found in it, Tom's criticisms are genuine and personal however certainly do not reflect all the venues all the time.
We are all members of a unique industry and in some instances refered to as a 'PART TIME' industry, if we calculate the worth of it ($14m pa operator income) using W2S nationally recorded gigs plus over bar income it is in the corporate sense 'chicken feed' so as a medium of entertainment QUALITY is a major prerequisite to sell our product as a realistic and attractive vehicle and continued bad press will only reduce the reputation and credibility of our chosen business!
My choice to subscribe to W2S was fuelled by the need to know what makes my business tick, this site in my opinion provides the 'intelligence' and 'brainstorming' I need to run a succesful Karaoke Business, you guys, fellow subscribers attracted me to W2S due to your nationwide passion towards the 'betterment' of Karaoke.
Therefore I must remind myself that when I post or enter debate within this site I am a representative of the Karaoke fraternity and as I have no idea who will read my comments, so I need to take more responsibility when making statements!
My point is simple, constructive criticism and industry banter,laughs etc are fine but continued 'Lone Wolf' crusades can and do damage this industry and do not attract constructive subscribers, as I have continuously heard Tom's critique I believe it is in the interests of the 'Fraternity' if Tom share his 'blueprint' towards a more 'Mature' venue model that will reverse all the negative sentiment he has produced towards my trade in recent months!
