| From the Where2sing.com forum: My Friend Tom - There is certainly no answer to your eternal quest, as you say the sound pumped to your own liking over house PA and then with foldback your wife can't hear you,do you really understand the problems of hosting?
As your previous 'War & Peace' novels have clearly indicated your hatred for Karaoke drowning out your social intercourse and I cannot omit your intolerance towards crowds and crowd behaviours (especially when enjoying themselves) so what do you think a Host is doing while you are deciding not to hang around for your second song?
No Tom, I won't wait for your answer but I'll tell you - The Host is WORKING very bloody hard for 3 or 4 hours attempting to give those that are making the experience, a great time, do not forget Tom, audiences and all their social intercourse is NOISE too, so our job of resonance and distortion management is attempting to supply a consistent mid field configuration of sound and as I find with todays fill up and empty due to the smoking laws makes output control very challenging.
Tom you forget Karaoke is a non stop entertainment thats what seperates us from bands etc.
When we stop, Tom, the boss looks at the clock!
And on a smaller scale yes a Karaoke night could be compared to an Elton & Billy Show, bigger noise pollution, why o' why did ya pay big bucks for that Tom???
