| From the Where2sing.com forum: Tom.....I only bought into this debate late and after this I'll buy out.We have total respect for all involved with making a successful karaoke event-the drinkers,the singersetc.Ultimately we get paid and keep our employment by the publican making a profit from what we do...I know of no public service karaoke at this stage.We do this by judging the mood and adjusting to it and consequently the crowd as a whole continue to patronise the establishment.Sometimes this involves pumping the sound to suit this mood whilst riding the mixer to ensure the singer is not put off.I'm nearly 52 and old age has not yet hit me and I love being in control of my destiny.True karaoke is generally the loudest of the musical hobbies and I hope my ears survive in my factories.In the meantime I would have plenty of unemployment quiet time if I did not judge the crowd...and again you can't please everybody.
