| From the Where2sing.com forum: BarriTone: I do a little what Greg does sometimes, but not so much anymore; more like just prepare for it. Just a matter of taking out the top end a little and boosting the bottom end for a gal and the opposite for a guy. Hopefully you get to know the regulars enough so that rather than a pre-mix for a particular gender, you have a premix for a particular singer. (Also helps if they sing the same song every week... lol).
There's this one guy that comes to Campbelltown sometimes that gets me working overtime on the console. He'll start out really soft when using his lower range and it gets a little distorted, sounds fine when I take out his bass and give him some more treble. Then when he goes high, he gets quite screechy and I need to pretty much flip the dials.
It just comes down to how much effort the KJ wants to invest in it vs how much the audience will notice...
