As for the sound course, its only useless because they don't teach you about irregular setups like ours. I don't mix girls and guys differently, I generally mix according to the voice. (e.g. if they need a bit of top to lift over the music I give it) I find that in alot of cases some guys have really toppy voices and vica versa.
