Geez. Log off for a few hours, return and find a bag Tom campaign going on.
Listen guys, he wasn't trashing the venue. He was just sharing the misfortune experienced at a karaoke.
Am I the only one not missing the operative points in his posts?

'Not the lone KJ’s fault.' (Understanding for the KJ - NOT a criticism)

'I didn't name the offending CBD venues as I didn't want to insult the KJ's who are nice people trying hard against the odds, or the visiting troubadours' (MORE understanding for the KJ and to a certain extent, the patrons)

' - what ought to be a nice evening of singing.' (His true view of karaoke)

'I have no issues with Garry & Di.' (Straight from the horse's mouth! An endorsement of their show)

'Any venue can get a bit loud at times' (A fair view)

'Garry rushes from his perch to check sounds regularly.' (Further endorsement and appreciation for the effort that goes into making a quality show sound wise)

I agree the guy seems to be the unluckiest in karaoke to keep landing in negative situations but I haven't heard him say it's the majority of times but I totally DISAGREE that his posts are all criticism as many of you seem to think.
The problem here is assumptions. Keep a level head guys and comprehend people's posts before going on a crusade against them. I've suffered a few people's wrath time to time here and usually over misinterpretations. I've seen others suffer the same fate. Some of them never to return.
Just because Tom's criticisms are the most often voiced (and debated) here (as opposed to praise), doesn't make it the most frequent experience. That's another assumption people are making.
I once asked in the past for a gig that had his endorsement but got no reply. His most recent post shows Chatswood RSL to be one. Given its consistent ranking in the Top 3 venues in its state and the country alike, we can assume his view is not so minority based as gets assumed.
I feel for the guy's misfortune. I don't disbelieve it as ridiculous. Most people I know may run late once in a while. Very few run early to on time ALL the time. Me? I run late more often than not. Some say its poor planning but I know it's misfortune cos I've had plans just come apart at every step of the journey. A train or bus runs late or miss the connecting service. If I have to withdraw money, my old faithful ATM is out of order, sending me on a hunt for another one (that just happened last night which saw me miss not 1 but 2 buses to the train station, meaning I had to walk, delaying my journey by 15 minutes and as a result missing the express train to the city where I would change trains, thus having to catch the later train, thus delaying me by about 40 minutes). When I have to leave at a certain time, I get roped into staying at work longer or having to run an errand as a favour.
They say some people have all the luck. Usually we associate that with GOOD luck but remember there are those who suffer the bad luck too. Not just trivial stuff like misfits at karaoke and running late either. A KJ I know had a son who died of leukaemia which was awful enough but even though both he and his wife had children of their own before marrying and thus were not related, shortly after the son's death, the wife's teenage daughter contracted cancer leaving tumours in her lungs and the rare bone cancer in her arm led to its eventual amputation at the shoulder. I notice things like this so am amazed at just how many people fail to keep things in perspective, instead homing in on the bits that trigger emotions in them.
Like judges at karaoke comps, we're all human and susceptible to personal bias. However, we can at least TRY to keep a level head before we judge each other, can't we? I'm just saying be sure you've comprehended ALL of what was said by anyone here before you launch a bunch of negative comments at them.

LeatherBaron...
Well put mate.
