I can confirm all the things Tom writes - the cellulite-flashing 18 year old lap-dancers, the ice-throwing, the dildo handed to Tom instead of a microphone, and what's this new thing of non-singers getting up and 'air mic-ing' (like air-guitaring) a singer? One young cellulite flasher came closer to eating an actual microphone than she ever wants to in this lifetime when she tried it on me - especially as I was singing a request and would not have got up otherwise. ( I didn't do anything - just ominously stopped singing) Nice save by the KJ who distracted her. Also the drunk KJ who left the venue and a customer turned the speaker full blast into my ear - I could not hear for about 30 minutes afterwards (I mentiioned this before on this blog). Oh yes, the highlight was the night we missed an actual shooting in the pub - the police found later it was gang related and not karaoke related.
We come across these things because we go to lots of karaokes. We have done for years, both locally , when we go to the Cessnock area for a break and if we go on holidays.
Why do we go? We love karaoke. We always meet good people wherever we go. We have had some fantastic experiences.
But we don't like violence and when we and the people who come along week after week and keep the shows going are treated with disrespect.
