| From the Where2sing.com forum: puss in boots....Sue and I had only started singing when we started our karaoke business 2 1/2 years ago.I thought my school play appearances over 30 years before were enough to make me a decent singer but really only for certain songs.So we took lessons and still do fortnightly.James is right you have to dedicate and you actually go backward before you go forward-but I can tell you that the personal satisfaction of being able to hold your own against alot of singers is worth the effort.I find that many karaoke singers are reluctant to sing away from the original key.A good singing teacher will find your right voice,tone,key etc and it's amazing how many songs suit with the correct adjustment.I'm running a comp in Newcastle at the moment and we love to pass on anything that we've observed and learnt.There's one guy that Ive sugested to more than once if he went 1 or 2 down with his songs then he'd probably make the final.If he'd take lessons could even place.I know It's all about fun but personal satisfaction surpasses everything.No way in the world are we near the best but we know feel the improvement.
