Holy smoke! 28 posts!!! (plus another 8 in the meantime as I typed)
Not asleep GregW. Busy. Besides working on my music, I spent time editing my reply to my first official hater at my website (and I'm not even a celebrity for crying out loud!). I suspect her to be a forumer or lurker here.
Besides that, there is the time taken to type this post and consider the songs. ;)
I didn't mean to suggest that it is necessary to have excessive lists. I was pointing out that a huge list for James' described situation was the best go because he was working so many different types of gigs and catering to many different audiences as a result, so obviously, bigger is better there because there is more to choose from to keep everyone happy.
I am well aware of how we folk who have already grown tired of hearing the mainstay karaoke songs are the ones who request the obscure stuff and do not make up the lifeblood of karaoke as LeatherBaron said and like him, would love to see more online lists so as to choose in advance rather than showing up on the night and perusing the list which with the larger song books can take a good hour I'd rather spend conversing, singing and dancing.
Asking me for 10 songs is a bit of a waste of time because first, I tend to choose spur of the moment based on my judgement of the audience's likely tastes. The songs I do go forearmed with are usually just exercise for my vocal limits or newly learned tricks and if I feel the crowd won't like it, I'll often change that to something else for their benefit. Second, I was meaning that there are heaps of songs I'd love to do and I'm sure would go down well but haven't ever seen on a list.
The guaranteed crowd pleasers I'm sure you have but the more obscure choices, I doubt are even on karaoke. Plus the ones I mentioned like Frozen Orange Juice and This Guy's In Love I've mentioned already so you've already robbed me a couple from my list. That's CHEATING! LOL
I don't know if all of these songs are available on karaoke but it's my (now adjusted) list of what I'd love to try.

1. HIM - Killing Loneliness
2. Elvis Presley - I'm Gonna Get Back Home Somehow
3. Chris Isaak - Don't Leave Me On My Own
4. The Byrds - The Ballad of Easy Rider (from Easy Rider)
5. Statler Brothers - Flowers On The Wall (from Pulp Fiction)
6. Harry Connick Jnr. - Recipe For Love
7. Right Said Fred - Don't Talk, Just Kiss
8. Nickelback - If Everyone Cared
9. The Drifters - Like Sister & Brother
10.Roxette - June Afternoon

To answer your request but keep it sporting, I'll choose songs I know most to be both crowd pleasing and on karaoke but I have not yet tried. Some I've never heard done but am sure would entertain the crowd if done well.

1. Elvis Presley - Mary In The Morning
2. Robbie Williams - Radio
3. Gary S. Paxton - Alley Oop
4. Benny Hill - Ernie (The Fastest Milkman In The West)
5. Ritchie Valens - Donna
6. Buddy Holly - Rave On
7. Tom Jones - If I Only Knew
8. Queen - Don't Stop Me Now
9. MC Hammer - U Can't Touch This
10.Guns 'n' Roses - Yesterday

So. How'd we do?
