Hey LeatherBaron & Chatty-ites...
I'll be at the RSL tomorrow night and my opera singing friend Elizabeth from my musical theatre days let me know this morning that she will be showing up to meet me there around 9pm. She has autism, so I warn you that she can be quite intense and a little obsessive but she's actually a nice lass if you can get past that and she has a great singing voice.
She prefers opera but she does have appreciation for other styles of singing too. I'm curious as to how she'll take to your rock stylings LB.
Thankfully, she says she's coming solo, so will be minus her old fuddy duddy admirer (a hardcore opera buff and professional singer in an international choir specialising in Beethoven. I don't mind that so much but the man has NO patience for anything other than opera and amazed me how he would just sit at Chatty with his fingers in his ears looking pained and not even grace the stage once because he was so above it all. Sheesh! It didn't help that he only ever heard me experimenting with songs as opposed to my specialty songs and you could just see the condescending judgement in his eyes). I'm so glad HE'LL not be there.
Looking forward to the night! It's been ages since I was last at Chatty. Without pushing the venue comments policy too far (I hope), I hate being away for so long as I really miss the company, atmosphere and staff at the place. It's my favourite haunt. On the quiet nights (of the weekly gig) I am saddened because I feel any newcomers are getting the totally wrong impression of the place.
I have done bugger all singing lately so am a little anxious as to how I'm going to sound tomorrow but not to worry. It's only fun, right? ;) Dependent on free time tomorrow, I may just pull out some golden oldies from my repertoire if I don't get the chance to have a listen to and learn Robbie Williams' 'Radio,' Tom Jones' 'If I Only Knew,' and Hinder's 'Lips Of An Angel' (though that one will just require a refresher as I did learn it one day, months ago).
See you there! Don't ask me what time because I seem cursed that whatever time I say I'll arrive usually turns out to be the time I wind up leaving home or getting the chance to start getting ready after major hiccups in my day's plans. So let's just leave it at you'll see me when you happen to look in my direction ;)
