| From the Where2sing.com forum: Yes Johnny I am not blind to the behaviours of adults in hotels and clubs, as an operator, I have like most of us experienced and witnessed some very unpleasant things at karaoke gigs and I choose not to open that can of worms up again,(please lets not go there !)
However Kid Friendly Karaoke venues must have full cooperation from parents, this is not an opportunity for parents time out with the local pub supplying kids entertainment and childcare so they can relax with a few coldies, as that old slogan states 'The Family That Plays Together' is a very important message and as my target audience will be that sort of family we will still have that element of parenting that will use it to suit their own benefits, that is where the laws come into place regarding 'reasonable refreshment time' and 'Children are to remain seated at all times in the care of Parent or Guardian'.
Kid Friendly Karaoke venues are not to be found in the general realm of licensed premises but must be chosen carefully and as your reference to UK , the 'Family Affair' style local metro or regional pub is the best choice for this model.
One of the paramount reasons for me to introduce this concept was based on a number of young parents and single parents in our region that could not enjoy their Karaoke at nights due to child care obligations, the nucleus of this group love to sing and I am sure have equally talented kids and proud Grandparents,Uncles and Aunts that would gladly come along adding to that 'Family Affair' concept and as we know there is no better security than Family!
