| From the Where2sing.com forum: i know of the hosts who were doing it at a previous show, dont know if they are doing it at the present gig as I dont go there, but alas it would not surprise me...it is not one of my regular haunts because of the ethics...I think i know the answer but as they got a good crowd...i let them judge...and leave them be. Incidently, the rest of the show and the large group of friends when I attended the previous venue, so even though I knew it was going on it did not really bother me as I was there to sing. Incidently, the friends of the host all sung quite well, so I thought it was a , sort of, bit of hehe payback to the show. Btw it is not any of you guys, I dont think the hosts actually comes to where2sing.

Tom...I like prize gimmicks as it helps to enhance the night especially for the new-to-karaokeons...tends to keep me there, unless prizes are only drawn at the end of the night...as I turn into a pumpkin after 11.30 during weeknights...one clever host...revs up the audience with the prizes, and gives people a laugh with it. I know of a couple of people who like to listen only, and it makes it a fun night for them.
