Congrats on the family karaoke's successful debut. May the future of the show be just as bright or brighter!

Ah Tom. We have the same dilemma regarding finding deep voiced songs. Seems they went out of fashion after Elvis died. I have a cheeky song of my own on this very subject which I really want to get recorded and if it proves successful, you may have another song to add to your repertoire with that one. Hehehe. Have to find some suitable female backing singers for it first.
Meanwhile, if you're feeling brave, you could try Isaac Hayes' rendition (as Chef from South Park) of 'Chocolate Salty Balls'
The Elvis remix of Rubberneckin' might suit also. I know it's an older song made contemporary but then are cover versions not effectively the same thing?
Will Smith is baritone range even though it is more rapping than singing but if you listen, you will hear his style of rap is quite musical, vocally and I love the way he plays with timing. His material would be far more suitable for your voice than Eminem. Reminds me... there's a couple of Will's tracks I want to learn myself to try sometime.
James.T.Orr once suggested Josh Turner who has a pleasant baritone style too. I couldn't bring myself to try Long Black Train as I see myself as the driver in that song which goes against the message of the song totally. Hehehe. However, he has some other songs worth checking out too.

I'm with you James.T.Orr on the stance of pushing yourself to extend one's vocal limits. My father often feels like disowning me for that as he much prefers me as a crooner so when he hears me effectively screeching up high or rapping; OMG! LOL
Wow. I can hardly believe I didn't think of this earlier James but do you have family in Mackay, Qld? I knew a John Orr up there and his son about my age called Tony who had a sister whose name escapes me for the moment... Lisa maybe? Just thought I'd ask. I have the niggling feeling I have asked before but am not certain so apologies if it is a repeat.

I think I've shared my most embarrassing karaoke moment before but in case you never saw that post, here goes. I think it was my first competition and early into my karaoke days. A North Sydney venue called Blueberries. The gig was hosted by the well known KJ Brad Pearson. I had chosen Bryan Adams' 'Please Forgive Me' - the actual film clip to which I had sung along with easily enough albeit the octave down. The karaoke version, like the radio edit, had this long guitar intro totally unfamiliar to me, so I was thrown and started in the wrong pitch and due to the sound quality and my own nervousness at trying a new song, I just couldn't find the right pitch either. It was an awful experience. I was all over the place searching desperately for the tune, fearful to stop and find the pitch lest it count against me. I was so bad, the audience was laughing at me. As I made my walk of shame from the stage back to my seat afterwards, one guy clapped me on the back to say facetiously, 'That was really good man!' while he and his group of male and female friends alike were still laughing. My worst karaoke sing ever.
Any time I mess a song up is embarrassing for me. Some occasions more so than others. One other time, I was attempting George Michael's Careless Whisper and REALLY struggling to hit those high notes. Come the final chorus, I changed the lyrics to, 'I'll never sing this song again!' and have so far stuck to that promise but given my new method, I may try just once more. I can never resist a musical challenge when it comes to songs I'm not particularly fond of anyway. Some songs I won't touch lest I murder them but others, I don't consider sacrilegious to try and if it tortures everyone's eardrums - especially my own, so be it. It's worth it for the development of both one's voice and style and self discovery.

You and I know Steve E's most embarrassing karaoke moment. Don't we? Hehehe. I know the very song to dedicate to him too just to remind him of it: Lady in Red. LOL Oh, I'm so cruel! Mwah ha ha ha ha harrrrrrr!!!!!!!!
