| From the Where2sing.com forum: Guys - just going back to the songbook discussion and how precious it is to us KJ's and patrons alike, while the last debate had mixed ideas on how BIG the book should be, it was generally accepted by hosts and singers that Bigger is Better especially if all genres are catered to!
I have endeavoured to increase and update discs on a monthly basis i.e. New Releases - Singers Requests etc. etc.
However when your carrying to each gig a case of around 1000 discs (the laptop idea becomes more and more attractive) you not only put your back to risk but the possibility of theft,damage and the like must be considered.
I mean how good is my show without the music????
So this week I have been trying to broker an insurance renewal for my equipment and to my horror find I cannot get anyone to commercially insure my discs!!!! (I was unaware last year, didn't ask the questions!)
Again this makes my Songbook more than precious in fact irreplaceable if stolen unless I have around $30k in loose change at the time, something to think about guys especially when we adhere to Copyright & APRA, MIPI guidelines regarding laptop use and copying!
