| From the Where2sing.com forum: Guys - I touched on this subject of pricing just recently and what 'good' karaoke is worth, I mean you will never stop the cowboys in any industry but if we are smart and run our business to a standard of service that cannot be matched by these 'amateurs' then there is no competition only a CHEAP and nasty alternative!
So I ask the question 'How Do You Market Your Business?' other than turning up on the night!
What can you offer an establishment that others can't?
Are you fully 'LEGAL' i.e. no burns no laptops etc, to safe guard the interests of the venue?( And are your competitors?)
Have you Insurances such as Public Liability that offer your employer and patrons security?
Have you an ABN? Are you a genuine BUSINESS?
Are your workers (if any) properly catered for regarding employment obligations?
Of course not forgetting great sound from exceptional 'good looking' equipment and personalities that add that special uniqueness to each show!
Unfortunately if we are not the above then it is open slather in a 'cowboy' style price gun fight and believe me most wise venue operators can't be bothered with that crap!
Unfortunately there is no regulating body to police this sort of activity, only the venues can implement a standards list before consideration to protect themselves especially ABN's, Burnt Discs etc or maybe this is the right forum to inaugarate an Australian Karoke Operators Regulation Assc. what do you think David?
