| From the Where2sing.com forum: Hi Bill ....I once knew a host ( very pro with all of the requirements ) , some years ago this host was looking to increase his / her number of gigs , so this host was doing the rounds of pubs ( not currently do karaoke shows ) and this host would give ' the spiel ' and at the end gave ' the cost ' which was $495 for a 4 hours show and if the pub wanted longer hours then the cost would be $ 100 per hour or part there of , pretty fair if you are a full time entertainer with no other source of income , low and behold the managers ( and many of them ) would then display 'quotes ' from other Companies ( if you can call them that ) for rates ranging from $250 to $ 375 and if that wasn't bad enough they would work any hours 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 hours at No extra cost it didn't matter , so naturally there was phone calls from any of these pubs , price does matter when it comes to publican , many can't see pass there noise , the up side now is that there can not be such a price Cap between the good operators and the ' cowboys ' so it should not be hard to over -come $50 or $60 bucks , but in the days where it was $100 to $300 it was a night-mare...
