| From the Where2sing.com forum: Anthony, James t Orr: It depends on the song I think - a stadium rock/pop number will get the crowd shouting along and the youngsters popping their heads in from the pool room for a look whereas a chick hit ( aka romantic ballad ) will hush the crowd and get the sober couples out on the floor hips a-swinging. But yes, if your not grabbing the attention of the crowd then perhaps you ain't as great as you think you are. I always say a good singer just needs to say a crisp thank you and let the singing speak for itself.
As an aside, I don't like hosts building up a good singer so the audience is prepared.. I rather like shocking the assumptions of the audience and eletricyifing the whole place :)
