This month its a friendly competition.
Well this should be good for a bit of fun. Forget about how well you can sing cause it really doesn't matter.
This Competition is for fun
Choose a song, dress up to the theme of the song or as the person who made it well known, get into the swing and really have fun with it in front of everyone. Get the audience involved. 80% of the marks are awarded for this and only 20% for vocal ability. Karaoke is about having fun and enjoying what you do, so come along and have a go.
JUDGING CRITERIA
A little tip to gain high marks.... sing a lively popular song.
A judge is supposed to be impartial. Like Sherlock Holmes, they should concern themselves with the facts.
Stage performance: out of 10
Has the singer gone to much effort to really look the part.
Is the singer performing or just standing there singing
Are they having fun
Interaction with audience: out of 10
Is this singer genuinely trying to connect with the audience or would it make no difference if there WAS no audience?
Audience Participation: out of 10
Is the audience joining in with the singer during the performance?
Audience Appreciation: out of 10
Does the majority of the crowd seem to like them or is it just their friends?
Performance of song: Out of 10
Does the singer not just keep the tune but actually hit the notes well?
If they make mistakes, do they cover them well?
Does their interpretation of the song do it justice - ON THIS OCCASION (in case the judge has seen them perform better previously)?
Do not mark on the following
*Are they singing a song I like? Good I'll mark them up for that
*I don't know this song / I don't like this song/style. I'll mark them down for that
*I've heard this person do so much better. They deserve to win - never mind that other singer who did so much better
tonight.
*Maybe if I give them good marks, I can get lucky with them tonight
*This person's just doing the same stuff I've heard them do previously, I'll mark them down for that
1st Place prizes to the value of $310
2nd Place prizes to the value of $210
3rd Place prizes to the value of $110
Get your act and outfit together and come on and join the fun.
The competition doesn't take away any normal karaoke singing time as it is run as part of a rotation.
