Following James comment about not being impressed with recent Idol contestants. I agree. But I have a theory as to why this is (for me anyway) Over the past few years we have been ambushed with Idol type shows, from Popstars to American Idol. The wow factor is what we all look for and crave when hearing someone sing for the first time. With an overload of talent programs the wow factor loses its punch. I would even say I have become somewhat spoilt and my expectations are now even higher. But to also add, as a frequent of karaoke gigs for over 10 years now I have seen some GREAT talent, much better than what we are shown on television. I guess is all comes down to the fact that we are now much harder to impress. To me, the WOW factor is a feeling on joy and emotion felt when you hear someone sing a song ever so greatly and almost without floor. But hey, this is just my opinion ... :)
