| From the Where2sing.com forum: Well .... one hit wonders are nothing new, been around for decades, but does that make them any less of a musician, singer or talent? I THINK NOT !! Singers and/or Bands are a bit like athletes and/or sportsman. Some athletes have won GOLD medals at successive Olympics, a mean feat, others have never cracked it for even a bronze at one, but does that make them any less of an athlete? I think not. Most sports people don't make the TOP and even fewer stay at the top for long, some do, just like muso's. There are not many who have stood the test of time and had hits year after year over the decades, but some do and some have become timeless and their tracks will be sung at karaoke forever. I had a young lady at karaoke the other week sing 'White Rabbit' by Jefferson Airplane, it was brilliant, but she wasn't even born when it was a hit. Another song she did was Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix(a legend). I was amazed at karaoke one night, when a bunch of young guys got into and went off when I did Sunshine Of Your Love by Cream. Anyway, singers + muso's are just like athletes, they have to practice, practice, practice !!! Everyone is entitled to an opinion and I respect everyones opinion here on the forum, but before we bag an artist, let's remember, they are just having a go and doing the best they can, just like some of us karaoke junkies. Plus, not every succesful muso is gonna stay in or even be in the Pop Charts, take a band that was formed in the late 60's, that I use to see on a regular basis in the early 70's at Frenchs Wine Bar in Oxford St Darlinghurst, a great blues band called ' The Foreday Riders ' these guys are still wowing audiences and performing today, a few line up changes, but the nucleus, the King brothers are still there. Hope you don't mind the sport analogy. There's the 3 R's for ya.... Rave, Rant and Ramble !!!
