Johnny B,
Once again you think you are an expert. I am sorry ... it is not exactly age we are referring to in this case ... it is conditioning ... and opportunity ... ever heard of the saying 'You cant teach an old dog new tricks' ... the premise of it is that someone conditioned to do things in a certain way will find it difficult to do new things, particularly the more conditioned they are to do that thing a certain way. Obviously then, age does come into it! Older people have been conditioned for longer; in this case they have been comfortable in life without the technology of computers and the internet. Not once have I imlpied that this disables them from learning, but people in general fear doing things differently.

I appreciate you can give examples of older people who can use the internet fine ... of course there are these examples, but humans are all different and many ... infact more older people than younger people are afraid of using a computer or would rather not even attempt to ... they have survived without it so don't see the point. Same with people from the country who may not have seen a computer before.

There are some things in life that are realities not idealistic wishful thinking. Unfortunately people who have not had use of anything fear using something new ... the younger that person is the less fear cos they dont know any better. This is where sometimes people get annoyed with you because you give your own belief rather than look at it from another viewpoint.
Some people are afraid of international travel cos they will not be able to understand the 'different world', some people prefer a conventional oven rather than the new microwaves, ... anyone in theory unless they have some neurological barrier has the potential to learn something new, but for many once formal education is completed, new things worry them and they stick to the way they have done things before. But you keep being the expert you are!
